An excellent opportunity has become available for a Graduate Planner/Town Planner with up to three years post qualification experience to join a multi-disciplinary professional services team, within the Planning and Development department at PFK operating from offices in both Penrith and Carlisle.

Role

As a part of the team, you would report to and be supervised by the Head of Department and the Head of Professional Services. You will be involved in providing specialist advice on a diverse range of planning and development projects including residential developments, tourism schemes and rural proposals of varying scales, working alongside other members of the professional services team to help deliver these projects on behalf of our varied client base. This will include preparing, evaluating and submitting small or large, complex planning applications and appeals, consulting with local authorities, landowners and developers.

The successful applicant would work closely with colleagues in the Land Agency, Surveys/Valuations and Estate Agency departments to deliver a truly multi-disciplinary service.

As a graduate, your involvement in a broad range of projects will assist you in the completion of your Assessment of Professional Competence (APC) as you work towards becoming a Chartered Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI).

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for candidates who have:

  • Completed an RTPI accredited degree within Town Planning or have recently achieved Chartered Membership of the RTPI.
  • Good interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing to clients and colleagues.
  • A clear understanding of the political and economic context in England
  • The ability to work in an organised, methodical fashion, with high levels of attention to detail and commercial awareness.
  • The ability to manage time effectively, prioritising tasks to ensure deadlines are met.
  • A willingness to be part of a team.
  • A pro-active approach to work and a willingness to undertake business development, including of the personal profile outside the company.
  • The ability to learn new skills and working methods and to be adaptable to change.
