Rural Property Demand Remains High
As we transition into Autumn, Jo Edwards writes why now is the best time to sell your rural property:
As we move into the final third of 2022, I for one am not sure where summer has gone. Up here in Cumbria, we have been extremely lucky in that we have had a generally warm and dry summer, but have not suffered the very hot and extremely dry conditions that much of the country has experienced, hence most people have managed to get their summer crop with both good quality and good quantity, and are now in the position to have plenty of grass going into the back end of the year.
On the back of such a good summer, we are seeing across the board a great deal of demand for rural property. Despite all the unknowns that there are in the world at present, from the huge increased costs that both the agricultural industry, and the wider world are experiencing, the increase in interest rates, the terrible atrocities in Ukraine, and the still huge uncertainties with regard to future support (or not) for agriculture, there is still a tremendous demand for all types of rural property.
Therefore, if you are contemplating the disposal of some land, or are looking for a change of scenery and thinking about putting your farm on the market, then now is the time to act. Now that Covid restrictions have been eased, public auctions are again possible, and this gives a very straightforward and transparent method of sale, with the advantage that on the fall of the hammer a contract is formed and a 10% nonrefundable deposit is paid by the purchase.
If you are thinking about selling then now is the time to act to get your property on the market prior to the short days of winter setting in, and whilst it is still looking at its best.
